Cumin Scented Rice Pilaf

 

This is an easy rice pilaf for which is convenient and flavorful for everyday cooking. The rice does not require soaking.

 

1 TBS canola oil

½ tsp cumin seeds

2 cups of basmati rice

4 cups of water

1 tsp salt

 

Combine oil and cumin in a medium pan over medium heat. Stir while cooking, and stirring until the cumin becomes fragrant 2 minutes.

 

Add your rice and stir until the rice produces a toasty fragrance (approximately 1 minute).

 

Add the salt and water. Bring to a boil and simmer with a lid on until the rice is tender and most of the water has been absorbed. (About 10 minutes.)

 

Remove from the heat and let stand with the lid on for 5 minutes until finished cooking.
