This recipe is SO good!
- 6 crisp apples (either sweet or tart) peeled and sliced very thin
- 1 tbsp of lemon juice in 3 cups of water
- 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
- 1 1/2 cups of rolled oats
- 2/3 cup of brown sugar
- 1 1/4 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp of salt
- 1/4 tsp of nutmeg
- 1/8th tsp of ginger
- 1 tsp of apple pie spice
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F. Mix lemon juice and water together in a bowl. Peel and very thinly slice the apples. (Place them in the bowl with the water and lemon juice as you slice them to avoid browning.) Mix the apples with the apple pie spice and place in a baking dish. Combine the dry ingredients together in a bowl and stir in the melted butter to make a topping. Pat the topping onto the top of the apples and bake in the oven for 30-45 minutes until the apples are tender.
This is delicious when served hot with whipped cream!
